Feel Good Friday

It’s been a very hot, humid and lazy week here at Casa Aloha. We mainly just tried to stay cool, but good things also happened: P1080336

  • Brett and I finished another puzzle. This one was challenging right up to the last six pieces!
  • We had a wonderful but too-short dinner and get-together with my cousin and her family.
  • A hot day calls for shave ice! We went to the Hee Fat General Store in Kapaa following our weekly trip to the farmer’s market and they did not disappoint. The natural syrup flavors were amazing.
  • Lots of locally grown pineapple were available (and cheap) this week at the farmer’s market, as well as ripe lilikoi (passionfruit). One vendor gave us a “local” discount when we bought two beautiful mangoes.
  • Monkeypod Jam’s Lilikoi Curd is once again available! Heaven in a jar.
  • We put $3.39 into the change/$1 bill jar.
  • The whole family enjoyed watching Big Eyes on our weekly movie night. Christopher Waltz was fantastic, managing to make Walter Keane both charming and creepy at the same time.
  • Fresh, ripe peaches from the mainland have arrived at Costco!
  • We had a terrific view of Venus and Jupiter from our dining room window this week. And, the moon was so bright the last couple of nights that it looked like the sun was shining in the middle of the night.

Hope you all have a very good week and are feeling good and happy this Friday!

What an amazingly detailed puzzle! Yum to shaved ice 🙂

I’ve been on vacation this week and it has been great. Vermont for five days and then at home. We cleaned out the shed, made a run to Goodwill and another one to the dump, got my eyes tested, and had a 90 minute massage! All good stuff.

I earned a $25 Visa card from Swagbucks and sold a book on half.com.

Now I want to relax and get ready for back-to-work next week.

Beautiful puzzle. It looks difficult. My mother would love it but I prefer easier puzzles that I can do faster.
Found 7 grapefuit on Mama’s tree. She is very happy.
The 3 mangoes continue to ripen. I’m not sure when you are supposed to pick them. Do they get soft?

I loved doing this puzzle, although it was a LOT of work. We’l get another one going in a couple more weeks.

We had three mangoes on our tree out back! But, the roosters here were able to fly up and were eating them out of the tree, so none for us. I’m not sure what variety of mango tree you have, but ripe mangoes should have a very slight give when you push on them. We usually let ours sit out a couple of days to ripen them up some more.

I would be very happy too if we got 7 grapefruit from our tree. None of trees seem to be producing this year other than the coconuts, and the three mangoes. I think all of them need a good pruning.
